Overview
The Nature Positive Fitzroy Farms project is restoring one of Queensland’s most ecologically significant and historically cleared landscapes, Brigalow Country, by working directly with land managers to deliver large-scale biodiversity and land condition outcomes across 17,680 hectares.
Brigalow Country is home to 21 Threatened Ecological Communities (TEC), roughly 20 percent of all those listed nationally, and more than 200 threatened plant and animal species, many found nowhere else in the world. Decades of land clearing and landscape pressure have placed these systems under significant strain.
This project takes a practical, land manager led approach to recovery. By engaging Land Managers in what matters most to them, whether soil resilience, land condition, native vegetation health or threatened species habitat, FBA is ensuring high participation and long-term adoption of improved management practices. The result is measurable improvement in soil resilience, vegetation condition and TEC, embedded within productive agricultural enterprises.
