About NRM
Regions Queensland

There are 12 regional Natural Resource Management organisations in Queensland, each of them working with their local communities to plan for the management of land and soil, water and biodiversity across the entire landscape.

NRM Regions Queensland was formed by these 12 natural resource management organisations more than 20 years ago. We coordinate statewide programs and provide a forum for these organisations to collaborate and support each other. Our goal is to amplify the voices of our 12 member groups and to influence, support and promote their work.

We are passionate about the sustainable management of Queensland’s natural resources and we support our members to plan for the management of those resources. They do this by working with their communities to develop Strategic NRM Plans. Once those plans are in place, we work together, as a sector, to secure investment for on-ground actions that have a positive impact on our natural assets, resulting in resilient landscapes and optimistic communities.

We support our regional NRM organisation members to deliver sustainability outcomes through mentoring and leadership, advocating for coordinated investment in natural resource management, and identifying areas for training and improvement. We are committed to delivering positive environmental and social change at the regional level, across the whole of Queensland.

We also work collaboratively with other peak bodies working in natural resource management, agriculture, regional sustainability and conservation and we’re often called upon to provide comment on government policy and consultation processes.

NRM Regions Queensland is a Company Limited by Guarantee with a board consisting of the Chairs of 11 of the regional organisations and one associate member.
